Thinking about a water filtration system? There are many to choose from. A good place we found was a site called “home water filter comparison.com”. There is comparisons between the top rated consumer models available. They have comparisons available for kitchen, whole house and shower filters. The reports about our water quality certainly would make us realize the importance of having additional filtration of our water supply.

For most of us, we really don’t need a whole house filtration system, we need a good kitchen filter and then a shower filter. Shower filter? Yes. The chlorine that is in our municipal water filter supply isn’t good for us or our skin. When we take a shower our skin is heated and the pores open up and let the contaminants that are in the water to be absorbed.

We found several good kitchen water filtration system available. We particularly liked this Essence countertop water filter. It has a life of 1000 gallons which is twice as much as it’s competitor and has an electronic filter life indicator that tells when to replace the filter.

Have you noticed that your dark clothes start looked a little bit faded after a few rounds in the laundry? We did. Especially my husbands dark golf shirts. Our solution? A Aquasana whole house filtration system. You see, if you test your water supply, you might be a little surprised at the amount of chlorine that is in your water supply. We were. We purchased a water test kit from Better Water Store, and tested it right in our home without having to send it to a lab. Among other contaminants was an extremely high level of chlorine. In fact there was more in our water supply that was is recommend for a pool. Imagine washing your clothes in a pool and expecting them to stay color fast.

The Aquasana EQ-300 was a easy choice. Highly recommend from some of our friend that have them, the cost was reasonable (less than $800 dollars), and doesn’t need replacing but once every three years. After a couple of hours, our plumber had everything up to speed and we were good to go. Great showers, laundry and no more spots on our dishes.
