<p>When you are unhappy what do you do? Do you go out for the meal? Go to the cinema? The theatre, perhaps? Do you go shopping? Perhaps you like a drink to overcome your disappointment. Or do you receive a buzz from jogging or likely to the gym?</p>

<p>Richard Davidson, a neuroscientist at this University of Wisconsin and Jon Kabat-Zinn from the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre have just finished some interesting research which could actually be of benefit to us and the way we all run our lives.</p>
<p>They took a selection of 41 stressed, but otherwise healthy, individuals working in some sort of biotechnology firm in Wisconsin. 25 were taught yoga. In this case: mindfulness meditation. The group met for the 2. 5 to 3 hour meditation class each week. After six weeks all of them attended a seven time meditation retreat. In addition each member was asked to meditate, at home, for one hour each day using a guided yoga tape.</p>

<p>The other 16 were held as being a control group and didn&#8217;t receive meditation training until the study was completed.</p>
<p>At the end from the eight week programme, in November, they also gave the many participants a flu jab. And guess what.  The members of this meditation group had an important increase in antibody titers  put simply they have less potential for catching flu.</p>
<p>The bottom line definitely seems to be. If you want to possess good health and overcome the day-to-day blues and maintain happiness discover how to meditate. When you meditate you change the way in which your brain operates.</p>
<p>In addition, they found, the more you practice meditation the higher your daily performance.</p>
<p>&#8221;What we found is that this long time practitioners confirmed brain activation<br />
on a scale we have now never seen before. &#8216;Their mental practice will be having<br />
an effect on the brain just as golf or tennis exercise will enhance performance. &#8221; It demonstrates, that the brain is effective at being<br />
trained and physically modified in ways few people can visualize.<br />
