Why Use a Whole House Water Filter?

December 13th, 2009 Posted 6:50 am

The tap water quality in our home has deteriorated nowadays. People are looking for ways to obtain fresher and cleaner water for their home usage, and one way is to install a whole house  filter. A whole house water filter is needed to remove harmful chemicals and contaminants in the water and ensure water flows into the house is treated clean water. Without a whole house water filter, harmful chemicals and contaminants will be constantly released into the air, causing poor air quality at home. Subsequently, this leads to potential asthma or bronchitis problems.

Moreover, the use of a countertop or shower  filter cannot protect the home from harmful water contaminants entirely. The shower filters are not 100% effective in removing all the dangerous contaminants as it needs to filter the water at extremely high temperatures. Therefore, the only way to ensure pure, filtered water from every water source in the house is to utilize a whole house water filter. It is both an efficient and cost-effective way to provide clean water supply to the entire house.

One of the questions on every PC users mind is whether or not to switch from the trusted work horse that is XP to the new sleek Windows 7.  Most PC users were apprehensive about switching from XP to the unstable memory hog Vista.  This apprehensiveness was obviously warranted as many, many XP users stuck it out waiting for something better than the unrefined Vista.  The wait might be over however, Windows 7 plans to be better than ever, combining the push for better graphical interfaces with a overall increase in running performance.   Windows newest operating system simply named as Windows 7 promises to be all these.  With extensive beta testing, and hordes of user input Windows has decided to do it right this time.  The interface is simple yet beautiful, gathering some ideas from Apple’s OSX with beautiful tool-bars.  Lets all hope that Window’s 7 doesn’t let us down like Vista did.  Who knows, the IT guys in your office might actually decide to update your operating system for once if it goes well.

Shower Filters-An Easy Way to Remove Chlorine From Your Shower

Chlorine. Let’s face it. It’s really nasty stuff.  We use it in our water supply for one reason and one reason alone. It’s cheap! That’s right cheap. It kills most bacteria and is easy to introduce into our water supply. But what happens when it goes through all of those water supply lines and ends up in our home?  Well we get some of it? How much. It varies. We did a test with a simple pool test kit that we got from Lowe’s. You know, the kind you get when you have a pool or spa. Brought it home and boy were we surprised. Our test looked like the level in a pool. Yuk!

But when you stop to think about it, it makes sense. Otherwise bacteria could grow in the pipes leading into your home. Our solution? Both a water filtration system for our drinking water and a shower filter for our bathrooms. These really inexpensive units take out all of the chlorine and you end up with a nice refreshing shower without chlorine. We recommend you get one!

Replace Your Bottled Water With Filtered!

March 26th, 2009 Posted 6:33 pm

Still using bottled water? There are three things you should know. When you do a comparison between using plastic bottled water and filtered water using a filtration system and a few things stand out. First and foremost is the amount of waste that we are dumping into our landfills with plastic water bottles (you know, like the ones you get at the market or convenience store.  They say that over 8 billion (billion!!) bottles are dumped every year in landfills. Second is the cost. The average costs ranges from around a $1.00 a gallon to over $4.00. That’s pretty expensive water! And the third thing is the quality and purity of water . Bottled water is controlled by the FDA and not the EPA like filtered water is. The controls are much tighter with the EPA.

We choose to get a filter from Better Water Store, and large online seller of water filters. We picked the Aquasana AQ-4500 for being cost effective and easy to install. Installation only took around 30 minutes and after that we were treated with crystal clean water! Actually the best we’ve tasted coming out of our faucet. Two thumbs up!
