Impact of Plastic Water Bottles on Landfills
April 13th, 2009 Posted 2:15 pm
Did you know that over 60,000,000 plastic bottles a day are disposed of in U.S. landfills from bottled water use each day.? That is over30 billion plastic bottles a year! That’s a lot of plastic that isn’t biodegradable. Not only that to make matters worse over 17 billion barrels of oil are used to produce those bottles. Then add the transportation and you have an eviromental mess.
Why not use a water filtration system? They are a lot easier on our landfills, the water tastes better and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper too. Our Aquasana water filter costs us less than 9 cents a gallon of water and tastes a heck of a lot better than any bottled water ever did. We went online and got ours through Better Water Store. Included free shipping. It only took a few days to receive it and connecting it was super simple. After a few minutes of running water through it, we were all set up. So do yourself a favor. Go out and get a good filtration system and save money and our planet!

Turn Off The TV and Start Living!
April 9th, 2009 Posted 11:58 pm
Have you ever though about how much time you spend watching TV? I started the other day thinking about it and was amazed how many hours were taken up. Let’s see, around 4 hours a day times 365=1460 hours a year! That’s a lot of hours. That is 60 days a year. Wow. That’s two months. Incredible. I never really thought about it till the other day. No wonder we are losing some of our productivity. Think of all of the quality work or play we could do with that time.
Next, I started thinking about the cost of the cable. That is $75 dollars a month. Times 12=$900 dollars a year. Another sobering number. Especially when you think about it, that is a rent or mortgage payment for a lot of people. So between the cost and the number of hours sitting it front of the TV, I’ve decided to let go and go without. I’ll give you a report in a month or two. Could be that I’ll even lose a couple of pounds. Hmm, this is sounding better by the day!

Installing a Faucet for a Aquasana Under Counter Filtration System
April 7th, 2009 Posted 5:47 pm
Did you get a Aquasana Under counter filtration system? We picked up the Aquasana AQ-4501 deluxe filtration unit for our kitchen. We just got through with a kitchen remodel and one of the things we forgot was a water filter. We live in a town that has what we call “alright” water. It won’t kill you right away, but after time who knows? So we contacted Better Water Store and purchased this filter. Got delivered for free and only took a couple of days to get. Only once we got it we were faced with a problem. Where to put the faucet!
We didn’t want to remove the washer that fits in the available hole in our stainless steel sink. We kind of like that accessory. So we needed to drill a hole in the stainless steel sink. We drove down to Lowe’s and picked up what they call a “step drill”. This type of drill bit is much easier to drill into stainless and we needed a quite large hole. (7/8 to 1 inch). We used some WD 40 and used our cordless drill and had to hole drilled in a couple of minutes. After that, installation was a snap and we were good to go.
